Major new SUV lineup announced by Mazda, starting with the Mazda CX-50
October 08 2021,
Mazda is planning to introduce five new sport utility vehicles to global markets in the next 14 months, three of which are coming to Canada and the first, the Mazda CX-50, coming as early as next month.
Mazda will indeed introduce the all-new Mazda CX-50 next November, and it will go into production as early as next January. It will slot near the redesigned 2022 Mazda CX-5 in the Mazda lineup, but it is actually based on the new Mazda CX-30. Mazda’s new SUV will be more rugged, and more versatile as well. It will offer an enhanced all-wheel drive system for better off-road capability.
Next, Mazda will bring two midsize SUVs to the market, the Mazda CX-70 and the Mazda CX-90. Both are similar, although the CX-90 will offer three rows of seats. The big news with these two models is the introduction of new powertrains, specifically a new straight-six turbocharged engine which should deliver exceptional performance with remarkable efficiency.
And speaking of efficiency, both the Mazda CX-70 and the CX-90 will feature an available plug-in hybrid powertrain which we learn more about soon. The CX-70 and CX-90 will be introduced to the market sometime next year.
These are certainly exciting times for Mazda which is also planning a huge electric vehicle offensive with new electric vehicles coming in 2025. By 2030, Mazda hopes to have electrified its entire vehicle lineup.
