A Look at How the 2023 Mazda CX-30 Stands Out

The 2023 Mazda CX-30 is a very popular sub-compact crossover that stands out in this crowded market by being fun to drive, by being a great value, and by having a premium feel.

Engaging to drive

Like other Mazda models, the 2023 CX-30 is one of the most enjoyable models to drive in its segment since the brand’s engineers have given driving dynamics a lot of thought during the CX-30’s development process. This results in a crossover that is very agile on tight and twisty roads while still being composed and comfortable over broken pavement. This fun-to-drive nature is also a result of the three available Skyactiv powertrains, which include a 2.0L engine that delivers 155 horsepower, a larger 2.5L unit that generates 191 horsepower, and a turbocharged version of the same engine that makes up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque, more than any other vehicle in its segment. All of these powertrains also come standard with the advanced i-Activ all-wheel drive system that increases traction in slippery conditions and handling on dry surfaces.

More for your money

The 2023 Mazda CX-30 is a great value since it offers you more standard and available features than its competitors despite being more affordable. For example, the entry-level CX-30 GX comes with LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, 16-inch alloy wheels, an 8.8-inch infotainment system with Mazda Connected Services, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-speaker sound system, push-button start, heated front seats, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert, among others. Stepping up to the mid-level GS adds features such as a heated steering wheel, 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic high beams, dual-zone automatic climate controls, front city brake support with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and driver monitoring. The top-of-the-line GT also benefits from features that are not even available in some competitors, such as a head-up display, a memory function for the driver’s seat, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.

The look and feel of a premium model

Despite its low starting price, the 2023 Mazda CX-30 looks and feels more expensive than most of its competitors, even approaching models from premium brands. This is of course due to the long list of standard and available equipment, but also to the quality of materials and the care with which both the exterior and interior have been designed. Sit in a competing model and then in a CX-30 and you will immediately notice how much more premium the Mazda feels.
